Domestic Violence Awareness Month

We are proud to announce the re-launch of our project on domestic violence during this month. While we we very active in this area in the early 1990′s we stepped away because others were taking on this challenge. Now in the 2010 we find it necessary to relaunch our project as the recession has affected all of us who continue to work to address this community problem.

No community has remained untouched by this problem. It will take all of us to make a difference. We stand ready to continue the work on this pressing community concern.

Breakfast for Our Students

We all know breakfast is the most important meal of the day, especially for our children. An interesting article in USA Today addresses this issue and the issue of hunger in the US. We all have to be mindful of our community and it’s needs. All school meal programs should be nutritious in all communities.

Stand up for our children!

Haiti Update: The elderly are in great need

A most desperate struggle in Haiti

By William Booth
PORT-AU-PRINCE, HAITI — It was always hard to be old in Haiti, but after the earthquake, to be old and poor feels like a curse, say those who are both.

My Take:

We cannot forget there are people still suffering. The elderly in  Haiti are being forgotten, this is shameful!. Much help is needed in Haiti now!

Actress and Muslim Philanthropist Promote Women
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
UNITED NATIONS (AP) — What do actress Geena Davis, Britain’s Duchess of York, Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and the head of the World Congress of Muslim Philanthropists have in common?.
My Take:

Helping others is what it is all about. this world is too big and too connected that those of us that have not to help those that do not.

Even the smallest act of charity can do a world of good.
